THE GARY COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER IS AWARDED A LAPTOP GRANT FROM THE LEGACY FOUNDATION

The Gary Community Health Center recently received a laptop computer courtesy of the Legacy Foundation of Lake County Indiana. Cara M. Spicer, Grants and Communication Officer for the organization made the official presentation on Monday February 2, 2009.

The grant was part of a “Special Holiday Grant Opportunity” made possible by the generosity of a Legacy Foundation donor. “The grant award will be beneficial for the Health Center as we transition to electronic health records,” Dr. Janet Seabrook, Executive Director The Gary Community Health Center. In addition to the state of the art medical facility on West 5Th avenue in Gary, the Health Center’s Doctors also see patients at the Sojourner Truth House in Gary and area Hospitals, making the laptop a welcome addition.

The 13th Annual Breast Cancer Walk
Saturday, October 8, 2011

The Community HealthNet will host its 13th Annual Breast Cancer Walkathon on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Marquette Park. Registration begins at 9 am and the walk starts at 10 am. The proceeds raised from this event are used to provide much needed health services to women in our area.

Thanks to agencies and individuals like you, your donations have helped us to provide pap smears, mammograms and breast ultrasounds to help detect breast and cervical cancer and improve the quality of life for those uninsured individuals which we serve.

Enclosed are the registration and sponsorship forms for this event. Please select your level of support or put together a team of walkers. Make all checks payable to the Community HealthNet. Gary Community Health Center and the Hoosier Alliance



Dr. Janet Seabrook, Executive Director, and Leah Staples, Nurse Midwife, accept a check for $5000 from Cheryl Grskovich from the Hoosier Alliance to continue the car seat education program. Each patient of the health center prenatal program receives a car seat following their delivery by our nurse midwife.
